A SAP Basis Engineer plays a crucial role in managing the technical infrastructure necessary for the effective operation of SAP systems. In this role, the engineer is expected to closely collaborate with an offshore support firm and be responsible for reviewing and approving their work.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. SAP Basis Management:

    • Set up, maintain, and monitor SAP environments such as ECC, CRM, BW on on-premise servers, and S/4HANA, BTP, Ariba in cloud environments.

    • Perform regular system checks, performance tuning, and ensure system stability.

  2. Collaboration with Offshore Support Team:

    • Regularly discuss progress with the offshore team.

    • Review and evaluate the work and updates performed by the offshore team.

    • Guide and coach offshore staff to ensure high-quality service delivery.

  3. System Updates and Migrations:

    • Plan and coordinate updates, patches, and migrations.

    • Ensure minimal downtime and compliance with regulatory requirements.

    • Assist in migrating on-premise systems to cloud-based solutions.

  4. Incident and Problem Management:

    • Quickly identify and resolve issues within the SAP environment.

    • Coordinate with the offshore team for rapid problem resolution.

  5. Security Management:

    • Implement adequate security measures to ensure data integrity and system accessibility.

    • Periodically review security protocols in collaboration with IT security teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all system-related activities meet established quality standards.

  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, changes, incidents, and solutions.

  • Compliance and Audits: Ensure SAP systems comply with internal policies and external legal requirements.

  • Communication: Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders (e.g., IT managers and end-users) and external partners (e.g., vendors and consultants).

  • Continuous Improvement: Propose and implement initiatives to improve the efficiency and performance of SAP systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in SAP Basis management in a similar environment.

  • In-depth knowledge of SAP ECC, CRM, BW, and experience with S/4HANA, SAP BTP, Ariba, and other cloud solutions.

  • Proficiency in system integration, database management, and network management.

  • Fluent in Dutch or French and English.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), and the ability to work efficiently in a multicultural and geographically dispersed environment.
