For one of the projects within the Planning department, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented API & Functional Test Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software by designing, executing, and automating comprehensive test suites for both APIs and user interfaces. You will work closely with developers, project managers, business, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software that meets the needs of our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
API Testing:
- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test cases for RESTful APIs, including functional, performance, security, and integration tests.
- Utilize various testing techniques such as equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, and state transition testing.
- Analyze API documentation and specifications to understand API behavior and expected outcomes.
- Identify and document defects effectively using a bug tracking system (e.g., Jira).
- Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Test Planning and Execution:
- Analyze user requirements, design documents, and other documentation to develop detailed test cases.
- Design, build, and execute detailed test plans and cases for functional UI and API testing in different testing environments (TEST, ACC).
- Conduct system, SIT, E2E, and regression testing for E2E test scenarios.
- Analyze user stories and develop use/test cases for validity and feasibility.
Automation Testing:
- Review functional test cases and design test automation scripts.
- Implement and maintain automated test scripts using tools for UI and API testing (Playwright, Selenium, REST-Assured).
- Integrate scripts with CI/CD pipeline.
- Leverage automation best practices and coding standards to deliver high-quality products.
Defect Management:
- Report and track bugs using tools.
- Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot and resolve defects.
Testing Standards:
- Follow testing standards, guidelines, and methodology as specified in the testing approach.
- Maintain detailed documentation of test cases, test execution results, and other procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the business during UAT sessions.
- Perform smoke, sanity, performance, exploratory, DB, and browser compatibility tests whenever applicable.
- Collaborate closely with other team members to test efficiently.
- Report key metrics and status on all phases of manual and test automation.
- Provide sprint demos for completed features and enhancements.
Requirements
Technical Skills:
- Languages: Java & JavaScript.
- Automation Tools: Playwright, Postman, REST-Assured .
- Platforms: Web UI, APIs.
- CI/CD Integration: Bitbucket, AzureDevOps, or similar.
- Test Case/Defect Management: Jira, XRay, Azure DevOps.
- Good to have: Cross-Browser Testing Tools: SauceLabs, Browser-Stack.
Agile Experience:
- Experience in agile environments and agile testing methodologies.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
- High attention to detail and solid analytical skills.
- Critical thinker with good problem-solving abilities.

- Able to communicate in Dutch or French and English.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Software Tester (minimum 8 years) with a focus on manual and automation testing (minimum 5 years).
- Certification in testing (e.g., ISTQB) is a plus.
